K Meets (and spazzes out over): Overwatch Voice Actors (lots of pics! With videos!)

Overwatch Voice Actors, Comiccon Asia 2018

Finally got around to posting these lol xDDD

So yeah. My husband and I went to CCA 2018 on March 25 to see the Overwatch VAs who happened to be in town, and through some preparation and a TON OF PURE DUMB LUCK, we had an AMAZING TIME. xDDD

(Note: I’m just talking about the OW bits here. The event itself is a different story which we won’t talk about here lmao)

I hope you’re ready for a whole bunch of stories!! And text! And photos! And some videos! And LOTS AND LOTS OF ME SPAZZING OUT! 8D

STORY TIME 1: Rush Gift Artwork

Our passes and tickets were for March 25. March 24 at 1am i get this BRILLIANT IDEA to make tribute fanart for the OW guys. HAHAHA WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF??

ANYWAY so I practically murder myself the entirety of Saturday to finish the artwork and have it printed out, all as I was watching my Facebook feed for CCA updates.

So yeah, I was seeing how terrible the lines were as I was desperately drawing, and a part of me was wondering if we should go at all. And then I remembered I already paid for it so OKAY WE GOTTA GO.

8pm Saturday, managed to catch the print shop before it closed and got my drawing printed on A4.

Hooray. Small victories.

STORY TIME 2: How We Got Such Great Seats at the Q&A

THIS IS WHERE THE PURE LUCK COMES IN

So we decided to wake up super early, and we prepared ourselves for the possibilty of having to stand in queue for four hours or so. I was telling myself that as long as we make it for the 3pm autograph signing/meet and greet that I paid for, I’ll be fine.

We arrive at 8:30am and THERE’S ALREADY LIKE 30 PEOPLE AHEAD OF US. And the sun was up. And it was getting hotter by the minute. And there was no roof in the area where we were at.

Anyway I sent husband off to go find an ATM while I held our place in line, which was when i met Paw! ❤ D came back after a few, and we all kept each other company until we got inside (AIR CONDITIONING THANK GODS).

So we got our badges next (hahaha let’s not talk about that…), and while waiting in another line to do that, Paw ran into HER friend (I’m sorry I forgot his name??). Said friend was apparently around the day before, and already knew the layout to EVERYTHING.

Once we got the badges on our wrists, we were instructed by bouncers to queue up for entry to the main event hall.

BUT Paw and her friend basically grabbed us and brought us to the function rooms at the second floor… where they were already letting people in for the Overwatch Q&A!!

FRONT AND CENTER, BABY!! ❤ ❤ ❤

THANK YOU FOREVER, YOU GUYS!! It was UNBELIEVABLE ❤

STORY TIME 3: How I Embarassed Myself In Front of Anjali Bhimani

A week before, I kept telling myself “Ah, K, you should fix your nail polish before Sunday. It’s kinda a bit chipped now and it’s growing out.”

Me being me, I procrastinated of course, until Saturday happened, and I was too DEAD to do anything. I figured, “meh nobody would care and the line would probably be too fast for Anjali to notice something like my nails. I’d probably get ushered away real quick before I can get in more than five words anyway…”

GUESS WHAT

As I walked up to greet her, hand her my artwork, and ask for an autographed litho, SHE GRABBED MY HAND AND SAID “OH I LOVE YOUR NAILS” AND I FREAKING PANICKED AND DIED IN MYSELF. I AM A SYMMETRA MAIN AND MY NAILS WERE IMPERFECT. WHAT HAVE I DONE.

AND IN MY HEAD I WAS LIKE WHAT THE HECK NO PLEASE WAIT

And she’s like “I LOVE THE COLOR!” AND PROCEEDED TO CHAT WITH ME FOR SEVERAL MINUTES

AND I’M LIKE “K WHY ARE YOU AN IDIOT, I TOLD YOU TO FIX YOUR NAILS”

I wanted to suplex myself right then and there.

This will forever be another of those things i will think of on quiet evenings until I’m old, and then i cringe at myself TwT;;

STORY TIME 4: Anjali Does What She Wants! xD

When I handed Anjali my print, she was like “OMG YOU MADE THIS??” and started gushing about it. The whole time I was legit panicking because idk I guess I just wasn’t expecting this kind of enthusiasm? I mean, they probably get tons of really good ones on an hourly basis, you know?

So anyway, she signs my litho and we take the official photo, and then she goes, “WAIT let’s take a picture with your work!”

At this point, the photog was starting to give me the evil eye because we were taking a bit too long, so I said something stupid like, “Oh, wait, I don’t think I’m allowed to do that because I only paid for one photo.”

She replied “Well, this is my phone and I can do what I want!” and we take the photo.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ❤

Jen Cohn, Pharah, Comiccon Asia 2018STORY TIME 5: Jen Cohn Being Super Nice

I did NOT have tickets for Jen Cohn and Feodor Chin.

However, I DID talk to the ushers and assistants and photographers at the M&G this, and I asked if it was okay for me to just hand over my gift print to them. Just real quick, no autographs, no photo ops, and they said okay.

So I was able to give my gift to Jen and we talked for a bit (where I told her I had no tickets for her M&G), and she gave me a free litho. AGAIN, I was refusing it because I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to have one but she just grabbed one off the stack and put it in my hand.

The lady who was giving go signals at the queue was ALSO now giving me the side eye, so I backed out and waited at the side again for a free moment so I could approach Feodor’s table.

STORY TIME 6: Carolina Ravassa Is Larger Than Life

It was finally my turn to walk up to Carolina’s table, and my heart was just BEATING LIKE CRAZY… because what if she thought my print was absolute crap, you know?

Carolina Ravassa, Sombra, Comiccon Asia 2018

And have I mentioned how RIDICULOUSLY PRETTY IN PERSON SHE IS?? D:

Is it the South American genes?? The diet?? Because SERIOUSLY. ❤ I want to know what skin care products she uses.

Anyway, as I was walking up, I realized, with horror… that I couldn’t find my ticket. The ticket I was supposed to surrender in order to get a photo and autograph with Carolina.

I was really on the verge of losing my mind, and I was telling the handlers and the photographer over and over “Wait, I lost my ticket! I can’t find it!” while I was so worried that Carolina was waiting at the table. THANK GODS the photographer spotted it on the floor and handed it to me. It must have fallen out of my pocket while I was having my own little freak out (I did this A LOT that day…) in front of Anjali earlier. I was also juggling posters, and my prints, and my phone, and this folder I had, and and the tickets were tiny squares of paper, so yeah… @___@;;;

So FINALLY, I walk up to her and hand her my gift, and SHE ASKS ME TO SIGN IT.

I thought I was going to pass out. Nobody has never asked me for that before, and my hand was shaking as I signed my own print with a marker.

STORY TIME 7: How I Embarassed Myself In Front of Feodor Chin and Jessica Rau

I was asking the photog when I could walk up to Feodor, and he gave me the go-for-it after another guy finished photo ops. So I went for it.

I said hi to Feodor, and then to Jessica, said my usual thank yous and handed them the print. I was planning to bolt right after handing it over, but he stood up and he was REALLY looking at the Feodor Chin, Zenyatta, Comiccon Asia 2018photo. They were both asking me details about it, and he laughed when he noticed that Zenyatta had coconuts instead of orbs.

AND THEN HE STARTED GETTING A LITHO AND SIGNING IT.

Again, I was SUPER PANICKING because the lady managing the queue looked like she wanted to murder me, and I was telling Feo that I can’t take anything because I had no ticket for his M&G.

He just went “MEH WHATEVS” (non-verbatim) and handed me the signed print. Then he said “LET’S TAKE A PHOTO!” and Jessica got out a phone.

So Jessica was taking our picture, but she said she needed to retake it because of glare (there were lights at the back).

I brain farted and said “sorry is it my forehead??”

They laughed and I will be thinking about this forever at 3 am until I’m 80.

I was mentally punching myself in the face the rest of the day.

After all the thank yous etc, I practically ran off the stage because I REALLY getting dagger looks from the queue lady now.

FINAL THOUGHTS

It was a truly unforgettable experience and I had so much fun.

Getting a great view at the Q&A was amazing, and the Overwatch cast were just so warm and friendly to us fans. Even if some people might say that it’s just a gesture or a formality, or them just being professional (those spoil sports…), I don’t really care because the gesture was very much appreciated, probably way more than anyone else will ever know.

It really meant a lot to me, and to Paw (who is a big Jen fan), and many others, I’m sure, that we were able to meet these wonderful human beings. ❤

It also helps that these said human beings pretty much symbolized something special and inspiring for all of us. I don’t think I will ever have enough words to properly express how moved and how thankful I was that this happened.

Their Q&A was insightful, and their answers showed just how soulful they could be, especially Anjali (my hero!) and Jen. There were certain points when I was getting a little teary-eyed as I was listening to them. It was also so much fun, they were gregarious, and the laughter in the room was just infectious.

If they were to come back, I would love to be there. If other members of the cast should visit us in this backwater island in the future, I would love to also be there, and meet them as well. ❤

To be honest, when I first bought our tickets, my general thought was really more of “Oh this would be cool, I guess.” and not much more.

But then when we were there… in the same place…. and they were REAL… I was just surprised, maybe? At how visceral my own reaction was. It was just… special. It was like something deep inside of me just KNEW that this was very special.

What I can say for sure, though, is that meeting them has brought me so much happiness. I’m going to be fondly looking back at this day for a long time yet.

BONUS STORY 8!!

As I finished posting this long blog post, I open up Twitter (I don’t check it much, I’m on FB a lot more), and ANJALI HAS TWEETED MY ARTWORK AND I AM SO HAPPY I WANT TO SCREAM BUT IT IS FOUR IN THE MORNING HERE AND I DON’T WANT TO GET EVICTED OMG OMG OMG OMG MY HERO JUST TWEETED MY WORK???

AAAAAAAAAANd that’s how it turned out to be a super great experience for me lol. One week later and I’m still kinda freaking out =))))

Please enjoy these other photos and videos I took during the event! ❤
