Patterns #1 – Gemini

Gemini

Finally a new drawing on this blog!ย YAY!

Okay, just to get it out of the way first, Iย feel like I need to apologize for the watermark. After what happened, I decided to just follow the example of other artists like Nene Thomas when it comes to watermarks, because at the very least I can make it a little harder for plagiarists to use my stuff. ๐Ÿ˜€ Also no more linking to the hi-res versions, I’m afraid. You CAN, however, view a slightly embiggened version over at my DeviantArt page. ๐Ÿ˜€

ANYWAY, so here we are.

Over the past year, I’ve been fascinated with doodling, particularly the kindย by the likes of Kerby Rosanes and Rob Cham.ย I love the details and the seemingly random explosions of STUFF in their works, and I’ve been trying to emulate that. I still have no idea how they do what they do (srsly guys, HOW?? D:), and right now, patterns is what I’ve got.ย I did, however, find that I enjoy drawing these things. You can just kind of zen out and relax while watching TV or waiting for people or whatever.

Another artist whose work I’ve also been trying to take after is Yuko Shimizu. I adore the heavy, dark inking, and combined with her coloring process, everything just looks fabulous and magical. Again, though, I’m still studying her work, and so far, I’m still pretty much off the mark ahahahahah hah…. T__T

So yeah, still got a lot of learning to do. =)))

For now, in case anyone’s interested, this is what it looks like before coloring:

P.S.

While I’m promising to practice daily, no, I’m not doing the 365 (or rather, 366) day challenge this year. I decided that I want to be able to savor things this time around,ย and not put myself under unnecessary pressure to bang out hasty work on a daily basis. =))) I figured it should get easier as time goes on and who knows maybe I’ll be able to do and actually complete it next year, but like any marathon, I guess I still need to train for that. :p

Finally got around to making a doodle that features one of the things that I am quite fond of: Corsets. โค

Also I just bought a fresh 0.1 pen, so I’m enjoying it at the moment, hahaha!

In the meantime, I need to get some sleep.

Good night!

Oh my gods… could it be…? Am I finally back to my normal posting schedule? XDDD

LOLOLOL Ugh, talk about a whole lot of backlog. Really hoping to never have to play post catch-up again, because it feels like a very, very slippery slope indeed. @_@;; We’ll see, I guess. I still have a pile of drawings to work on at the moment, but hopefully this teaches me a lesson to manage my time better. Hopefully. >_<;;

Anyway, here’s Sunday’s doodle. Still trying to figure out NOSES, so I’m going with the Archie Comics nose for now. It’s a pencil drawing, all done with my trusty mechanical pencil (which has long since been missing its cap, so the eraser keeps falling off…) and a Q-tip (because my shader has also been long since missing).

Also, please don’t mind the weird, dark lines all over the place. I drew this on the back of a page in my sketchbook that has inked lineart on it. Yes, I’ve been recycling pages in my sketchbook, because it’s almost full, AND I CAN’T FIND ANOTHER ONE EXACTLY LIKE IT. ;__; ย AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Anyway, back to work for me now. XDD

How to introduce someone to Minecraft

As I’ve mentioned a couple of days ago, my fiance and I have been spending our time playing Minecraft, with him at the controls, and me as the backseat driver. I’ve also mentioned previously that I wasn’t really into this game because I like having my games’ visuals gorgeous.

Well… we haven’t stopped playing, LOL.

Block by block, we have continued to make various improvements to our mountain-top fortress, and we even dragged a belligerent horse from 4000 blocks away (large biomes are INSANE). We have coordinates to various landmarks written down on the IRL calendar hanging by our IRL doorway. We obsessively preserve our progress by making spare copies of our save game in case of sudden LAVA. It has been awesome, and we’ve been having a really good time.

I think we’ll be playing this particular game for quite a while.

Today, mountain-top fortresses with lava-powered heating systems. Tomorrow, sky bridges. Yeah.
